Health Online is an intranet database listing the medical center's patient and family education resources. Many types of materials are listed such as handouts, videos, and teaching models. The database includes an abstract for each entry, a list of materials that have been translated, and some materials used at, but not authored by, UWMC. Most materials on the database can be printed. Health Online is a collaborative project between Patient and Family Education Services and Information Technology (IT) Services.
Types of Materials Available
Health Online provides an annotated listing of most handouts:
-
UWMC-authored handouts: Abstracted and indexed patient education materials, authored by UWMC. Most of these are available to be printed. These materials may be found by conducting a search using Quick Search, Advanced Search or General Topic Search. Double-click a blue button (e.g. "English") to bring up an Adobe pdf document that can be printed at your computer.
-
Translated versions of UWMC-authored handouts: Handouts that have been translated will have a blue menu button next to the title (on the Search Results screen). These materials may be found by conducting a search using Quick Search, Advanced Search or General Topic Search. Double-click a blue button for the desired language available to bring up an Adobe pdf document that can be printed at your computer.
A quick way to locate translated handouts is to go to the Advanced Search page, and choose the language you wish to locate from the Any Language drop-down box. The Search Results screen will show only the documents in that language, and those that can be printed will have a blue language button after the title. All documents in the language you have selected will be shown in this search.
-
Non-UWMC-authored handouts: Abstracted and indexed patient education materials, authored by external agencies.
